Arena Overview

Arenas are the battlegrounds where team duels take place. Each arena has two spawn positions - one for each team. The plugin automatically assigns free arenas to dueling teams.

Pro Tip: Create multiple arenas so multiple duels can happen simultaneously!

Creating an Arena

Step 1: Get the Arena Wand

Run the command to receive the arena selection wand:

/teamduels wand

You'll receive a Diamond Axe named "ᴀʀᴇɴᴀ ᴡᴀɴᴅ" with gradient colors.

Step 2: Set Position 1 (Team 1 Spawn)

Left-click on a block to set where Team 1 will spawn. This should be on one side of your arena.

The player's view direction is saved, so face the direction you want players to face when they spawn!

Step 3: Set Position 2 (Team 2 Spawn)

Right-click on a block to set where Team 2 will spawn. This should be on the opposite side of your arena.

Step 4: Create the Arena

Once both positions are set, create the arena with a name:

/teamduels createarena <name>

Example:

/teamduels createarena Colosseum

Your arena is now ready for duels!

Arena Reset System (Crystal PVP)

For Crystal PVP duels, the arena automatically resets after each match. This requires saving an arena snapshot.

Step 1: Get the Reset Wand

Run the command to receive the arena reset wand:

/teamduels resetwand

You'll receive a Golden Axe named "ᴀʀᴇɴᴀ ʀᴇꜱᴇᴛ ᴡᴀɴᴅ" with gradient colors.

Step 2: Set Reset Region Corner 1

Left-click on a block to set the first corner of the reset region. This defines where the arena snapshot begins.

Step 3: Set Reset Region Corner 2

Right-click on a block to set the second corner of the reset region. This defines the opposite corner of the reset area.

The reset region should encompass the entire arena where blocks may be placed or broken during Crystal PVP.

Step 4: Save the Arena Snapshot

Once both corners are set, save the arena snapshot:

/teamduels savearena <name>

Example:

/teamduels savearena Colosseum

The arena will now automatically reset after each Crystal PVP duel!

How It Works

  • When a Crystal PVP duel ends, all blocks in the reset region are restored
  • Placed blocks (crystals, obsidian, etc.) are removed
  • Broken blocks are restored to their original state
  • Sword PVP duels don't need snapshots (blocks are protected)

Arena Game Mode Assignment

Each arena can be assigned to a specific game mode. This allows you to have dedicated Crystal PVP arenas and Sword PVP arenas.

Setting Arena Game Mode

After creating an arena, edit arenas.yml in your plugin folder:

arenas:
  CrystalArena:
    data: "..."
gamemode: "crystal" # Only Crystal PVP
  SwordArena:
    data: "..."
gamemode: "sword" # Only Sword PVP
  GeneralArena:
    data: "..."
gamemode: "all" # Both modes (default)

Game Mode Values

Value Description
all Arena can be used for both Crystal and Sword PVP (default if not set)
crystal Arena is exclusively for Crystal PVP duels
sword Arena is exclusively for Sword PVP duels

Tip: When a player requests a duel with a specific mode, the system finds an arena that supports that mode. If no matching arena is free, the duel cannot start.

Use /teamduels arena list to see all arenas with their assigned game modes!

Arena Design Tips

Recommended Arena Features

  • Enclosed Space: Build walls or barriers to keep fights contained
  • Equal Terrain: Make sure both spawn points have similar advantages
  • Good Visibility: Clear line of sight between spawn points
  • Spawn Distance: 20-50 blocks between spawn points works well
  • Spectator Area: Consider adding a viewing area for eliminated players and spectators

Arena Size Recommendations

Team Size Recommended Arena Size
1v1 20x20 blocks minimum
2v2 30x30 blocks
3v3 40x40 blocks
5v5 50x50+ blocks

Managing Arenas

View All Arenas

List all arenas and their current status:

/teamduels arena list

This shows each arena's name and whether it's Free or In Use.

Delete an Arena

Remove an arena that's no longer needed:

/teamduels deletearena <name>

Warning: You cannot delete an arena while it's being used for a duel!

Arena Storage

Arenas are stored in plugins/SPxTeamDuels/arenas.yml. Here's an example of what the file looks like:

arenas:
  colosseum: "Colosseum;world,100.5,65.0,200.5,90.0,0.0;world,100.5,65.0,250.5,-90.0,0.0"
  arena2: "Arena2;world,50.5,70.0,100.5,0.0,0.0;world,50.5,70.0,150.5,180.0,0.0"

Caution: Do not manually edit this file unless you know what you're doing! Use the in-game commands instead.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Q: "Positions not set" error when creating arena

A: Make sure you've used both left-click (Position 1) and right-click (Position 2) with the wand before running /teamduels createarena.

Q: "No free arena available" during duel

A: All arenas are currently in use. Create more arenas to allow simultaneous duels.

Q: Players spawn in the wrong location

A: The spawn positions might be incorrectly set. Delete the arena and recreate it with correct positions.

Q: Arena wand doesn't work

A: Make sure you have the teamduels.wand permission and you're clicking on a block (not air).
